Mid-Week Blues

Anyone else feeling the mid-week blahs? It would be so nice to stay at home and craft something like this Sharpie pen bowl today, but alas, I started a new job last week and duty calls. I have a love for all things with polka dots so this bowl really speaks to me, but this project could be replicated using other fun shapes (hearts, triangles, etc.). I also love that it utilizes Ikea dinnerware. Cheap and easy!

Caramel From a Crock Pot

Mixology Monday: Fizzing Lifting Drinks

Girli Chef has this fun recipe for making carbonated drinks inspired by the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The recipe itself is simple enough (sugar, water, club soda and a blood orange), but what makes this drink so fun is that you can make it with any squeezable fruit (oranges, lemons, limes, pineapples, cherries, etc.) and you can add a little alcohol for added fun. I'd suggest flavored vodka or light rum. It looks so refreshing!

Friday Funny

I think we've all wished for the use of a time machine at some point. If I could use one right now, I'd go back to the start of summer. (If you live in Seattle, you know why. Could it just be sunny for one day this winter, pretty please?)

On a much more positive note, the weekend is almost here! Come rain or shine, I'm going to make the most of it and I hope you do too.

Easy Bacon Blue Cheese Gnocchi

Oh my word does this recipe for Bacon Blue Cheese Gnocchi from Lemon Tree Dwelling look amazing! With our oven still not working, I've been looking for ways to reinvent some of my favorite foods like pastas, casseroles and meats. Surprisingly, I don't miss not having an oven. You can really do some cool things with a saute pan and a slow cooker!

A Sucker for Romantic Movies

Hey guys! It's been a while, huh? The short story is that I was in and out of the hospital a lot last week. The good news is that I'm in recovery mode (finally) so I can get back to blogging. Hooray!

Although I was too sick to watch the Oscars on Sunday, I heard a lot of positive things about the films that won awards. Normally I'm ahead of the game when it comes to watching Academy Award contenders, but this year was an exception. I literally had nothing to draw from in terms of understanding all of the nominees. That's why it was so refreshing to come across the Best Animated Short Film from Disney called Paperman. I just watched it for the first time. Based on how moving it is, I'm excited to familiarize myself with some of the other award-winning pieces out there. It looks like it was a good year for films!
